In America the harvest table, as it is recognized today, began with the feasts Pilgrims planned as a fall harvest celebration. These feasts are most recognized as the roots of the Thanksgiving holiday. For many the term harvest table refers not to the piece of furniture, but to the items on the table which represent the fall harvest.
Living in the upstate of South Carolina, Artist Jaryd Walley was inspired by the natural spender of the Appalachian Mountains during this time. The Two Board wide planks very limited to this collection was discovered here in Greenville. A family owned mill for over 150 years had closed. These boards were out under a shed out back and were milled in the late 1800’s as you can see by the enormous saw marks.
